2000 S4 vs. 2001 C240

I am in the market for a new car. My audi dealer has a Santorin blue/Silver S4, 6spd, fully loaded except for nav and phone. Or should I wait until December and take delivery of a white/charcoal C240, 6spd, fully loaded except for command and phone. I know the S4 is the more perfomance oriented vehicle, but the new C has drawn rave reviews from everyone, especially from road & track, who usually do not have good things to say about mercedes benz. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Oh, BTW, the sticker price is about the same on both cars.
Thanks,
Pobe

Do you wan't performance or not?

You'll be really disappointed with the C240 performance if that's what you want. I assume you do since you are considering the S4.
On the other hand, if you plan to keep the car a long time, stay away from the Audi.
S4 = fast!

whereas I would think the C240 = slow AND expensive. Really, they aren't in the same classifications. 330i/330Ci or '99 M3 matches up better with intent & performance of the S4 IMHO. However, Audi does have some reliability/service issues. And the insurance on anything with the word "turbo" is going to be horrible. Along with resale value.
He's got a point.

perspective

even with mb i di not know you could get a c240 that costs 45K, which is what a s4 will cost. there is not comparison between the two cars. the S4 is better. audi is not as reliable as the japanese but the a4 has been a reliable car thus far. and mb doesn't win any reliability honors either. insurance wise my frined has an a4 i have a 3 series and insurance is almost the same for both of us. a c320 might be more in the price range of an a4
but even then the s4 is on a diff class....it is an all out sports sedan/car....

: I am in the market for a new car. what are u nuts?

45K for a 2000 S4. Both prices are about 38-39K.
39K is for an S4 w/out any options...no roof, no BOSE,

and no one buys a car like that stripped down unless you order it. i have yet to see one that is not loaded and loaded= 45K...which is MSRP and you r lucky if you pay MSRP for an S4.
: 45K for a 2000 S4. Both prices are about 38-39K.

This price is anything but stripped. I believe the only additional options would be cold weather pkg (heated Seat/Ski bag), Navigation System, Hands Free mobile phone, Bose sound system (not worth the money)and 6 disk cd changer. For me none of the extrasare worth it and in fact every IS I've seen and there are at least 15 between the dealers in town are all MSRP at 40.9K which includes the premium Pkg and Bose.
