2000 ML320 codes 0720/0500

Wifes car check engine and all traction control lights come on. Car won't come out of first gear. Once it has warmed up to 80 you can drive normally with the check engine light on only. Auto parts store checked codes and came back with 0720/0500. I replaced left rear speed sensor. Check engine light went out. Wife reports that all the lights came back on this AM with all the same symtoms (stays in 1st gear, speedo doesn't work) the car has 106k. I have read some old threads on this, anyone have some hints? Thanks.
