I have seen several posts on this...and I think putting together a kit or parts list would be nice - So I am.

So far I have tracked down longer front shocks and possibly found a vendor to make new torsion bars. I am still looking into rear shocks other than bilstein and springs to go along with them.

In addition to this suspension upgrade kit - I would like to put together a bushing kit and body lift kit for those persons so inclined to do so.

Any suggestions, questions, or concerns would be appreciated.

I am looking to stay under $1,000 for all the parts in the suspension kit. Additionally I will look into a "budget" kit once I find peices to do so.

Yeah...I'll put the DIY together with pictures and hopefully video...got an HD Camcorder a while ago and I need a good reason to use it.

Rude...I looked for hours yesterday and the day before at all the posts about lifted trucks...I might have read your posts but nothing is coming to mind. I was thinking about 2" solid around the truck would be sufficient for most people...possible making a 4" lift kit - just to see if I can. I do realize that if we lift the truck...larger tires are also key to a higher stance. I figured the lower control arms would hold me up - but wasn't sure as I have just started. If that is the case...I know of a shop that could "mass produce" but I would need to fab something up.

Jeff is willing to help get me started with shock specs for the rear and also to get ideas flowing - and yes...he mentioned "truck nutz" with a Benz emblem...hilarious IMO. In addition, Jeff is also helping me put together an over head console to replace the one in the ML - it would include moved switches and a DIN sized slot for CB radio or scanner - something necessary for any off roading adventure :)

Once again, I really appreciate everyone's input - and I look forward to completing this for the enthusiasts such as myself

So far I have found the extended front shocks and Rude has informed me of HOW to get more lift up front...although it's not a good idea without newly fabbed parts. I think within 2 months I could have a complete system if not, at least mostly complete.

As for the overhead console delete for Scanner...I completed that yesterday and I will be painting it today.

That's the idea...I am trying to source parts that are already in exsistence...like the longer Front Shocks...since the F-150 uses the same shock but longer...it would work for this application. Rude has been pivitol in assisting with the lift process and I am putting his suggestions to work. The Control Arms would need to be made...because I cannot find another with similar specs...however longer CV axles should be easy.

Rude...if I may...why would I need different steering linkage for 4" of lift up front? I gathered from your post that you managed to get 8" without swapping that. Granted...you didn't keep it...but I thought you had done it.

Honestly guys, If I can't get this lift kit put together...I'm selling my truck for a G500/G55. So hopefully you can all see how serious I am about this.

Right...I understand based on lifting other trucks...however Rude mentioned he had lifted it 8" up front without extending the rack. My question was based on his previous experiment.

I went to a local fab shop this week that specializes in custom suspension for Monster Trucks and show trucks...I am being told by just about everyone this is impossible. So...next choice I guess would be body lift?

Then it's settled! Thanks again Rude for all of your help with this. I seriously would have been running around in circles for months.

Wait til you change the tires...it will look like you only have 2" lift :)

These trucks are amazing off road. Great pics BTW.

It's all good. Half of the natural born American's can't speak well either. (Myself included).

We pretty much explained all you can do without major mods to your chassis for lift. I am actually dropping the truck back down because I'm getting married and the wifey has two kids...need a more comfortable ride. Also might have something to do with cracking a spring while offroading...

Awesome...I also found Federal MS351's, Mud Kings(BFG), and Sport Kings(BFG).

Looking for a local shop to import and install for me

Nothing, I took it to an MB specialist and he said they'd be fine, just mounting them and running them.
Same as mine

I don't think I would go larger though.
