Our 2000 E320 wagon with the Command navigation system has recently developed an intermittent problem: car blows the #10 (7.5 amp) fuse in engine bay. This results in the car losing all steering wheel controls (radio +/-; trip computer; and horn become inoperable), console airbag light comes on, and the radio shuts down with message such as "insert key and turn on ignition or radio will turn off in 3 minutes."

Replacing the blown #10 fuse restores all the functions until it blows again (could be hours, could be days). Horn ring or instrument cluster were suspected. After 3-days in shop for diagnostics mechanic can not locate problem (he did not charge me). I am now wondering if it's possibly a radio/nav issue? (FYI - car had phone removed a while ago, and CD changer has long been inop.)

Anyone else seen this fault that resuts in #10 fuse blowing? Solutions? Suggestions?

Good afternoon Brayman,

FYI, you might try posting in the regular W210 column as this is the AMG column. You'll probably get a quicker response. Try the search function also.

Of course, that's after you complete your profile. :D

Good luck.
