If you only one performance mod to a 126, the 1st gear start is the one. No downside. You will see a substantial difference, off the line.
Is 1st gear start up experience? Can someone explain exactly what it is?
Instead of starting off from a stop light in the normal second gear you force the automatic to drop down to first gear. Having had a EURO I don't see the point, a EURO's higher power at part throttle will overcome the higher gear. But if you need to, you can floor it and get first gear start off whenever you wish. I tried to avoid that since in a EURO yo';ll burn the tires and most likely break something sooner than otherwise need be.
Yes, but sitting on the throttle smoking the tires without holding the brake is AWESOME!
The FGS is expensive, especially considering that you can perform a first gear start yourself pretty easily - when stopped at a light, drop the transmission into "B" (1st), then back into "D". The car will now start off in first.

Also, there is a school of thought that the FGS module is actually the kiss of death for older transmissions with high mileage that are used to second gear starts. Converting to FGS will cause the early demise of the transmission. Maybe, maybe not.

The claims are that a FGS causes less strain on the engine and transmission than starting in 2nd gear.
What would the FGS do to cause "kiss of death"?

Not true at all. Unless your tranny has issues to begin with, 1st gear start has no difference on low or high mileage trannys.
Is this mod for all 722.xxx trannies, or only certain models of the 722?
