Hey Guys,

So the Benz bug has bitten me again and I am looking for a nice 4Matic Wagon. I was going to go with an older 300te but the forum saved me from that, I had no clue the older system was so problem prone. So, I found a nice 1999 E320 with everything I want apart from the creme leather (its grey). Anyway, I noticed a lot of people mentioning the 2000+ models are more reliable, I thought there were only a few changes such as the information console on the newer models? Or are there major differences under the skin?

In advance, thanks for your time guys!

consumerreports.org listed the 99 as much more reliable then the facelifted models. It does not show anymore since they delete data for cars over ten years old. but their data is based on thousands of owner surveys, so I trust it and bought a 99. Sure I would like the features of the newer model, but my 99 came with esp and xenon, which was what I was after.

buy 2000 or newer and spatially if it has Navi, because it has AUX in the glove box, plus it looks mach fresher

out side and inside

My 1999 was one of the very last pre-facelift models to roll off the lines in Germany, it was made in May of 1999, only a month or two before the newer, fresher models rolled out as 2000 models.

Owners paid dearly when MB did not follow the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) rule. The new model got that annoying pixel problem in the display.

I think so. Except for the wagon. The W211s started being sold about July or August 02.
