I'm getting ready to replace these on my SLK - anyone have an opinion on the differences between engine mounts made by:
1) Sachs?
2) FEQ?
3) Coretco?
4) Westar?
5) Lemfoerder?

As to the automatic transmission mount - any suggestions/instructions on how to install? Where exactly is it located? Recommendations on brands for that part?

Thanks!

Did you read all about it? Seems the sterring linkage being removed seems to help a lot..

No idea about the brands but honestly most should last longer then the car :)

The OE ones lasted ten years. Get another set of OE ones from a dealer that sells wholesale and the price will be close to the aftermarket guys and you know you'll be getting good ones.

Got mine on ebay for $130 shipped for all 3. They are the same thing that came out of the car.
Bend the shield out of the way on the passenger mount to remove and install.
Move the steering rod on the driver side to remove and install.

I slid under mine for the tranny mount and just unbolted it. It only dropped a couple inches and then I just bolted the new mount in the bracket and pushed up on the tranny to line the bolts up. It was fairly easy.

I mean seriously, it took my like 2 hours to do all 3. It appears hard because you can't see the bolts. It's not.

Several are OEM. I used Lemfoeder. When changing out the driver side, remove steering damper, easier access. Also, replace steering damper if it is the original (cheap).

Don't be fooled into not doing the tranny mount because it looks OK

Replaced my engine mounts a while back and was underwhelmed by the difference - did the tranny mount a bit later (and it looked perfectly OK when removed) but the difference was incredible - like a new car.

Car has now gone to a new home so he'll be fine for another 10 yrs!!!!
