I braved the -7 degree weather this morning to go see this s600 that a friend told me about. For anyone that is interested the interior and engine compartment is still pretty much intact. The car has the rear a/c option, headliner complete in good condition, center console wood trim with no cracks, rear power seats.

I looked around the vehicle and there was no body damage anywhere aside from a couple of small scratches and some door dings. The front bumper was broken at the bottom center and I wasn't about to get on the icy ground to see the extent of the damage. When I got there the front lights and pse pump were already gone. Someone broke both front turn signals trying to remove them and the steering wheel and mirror memory module was taken as well.

The drivers side mirror with perfect auto dim glass, rear burl wood ashtrays, taillights with center strip and the 600 grille came home with me :)

Sad to see. Someone should start hoarding these cars now that expensive maintenance needs are making them worth scrap value. Any volunteers?

I would love to. Last time I checked Kijiji in Calgary, there were nine w140s listed, most over priced and with needs but two were V12s. I already have two. That is all I am allowed. :|

The leather on the wheel and airbag was in good shape. The wood portion had I believe 3 cracks at the bottom and 1 or 2 at the top. I'll inquire about the price as I might go back down in a day or 2.

i'm thinking that the seats should be interchangeable w/my s320-- (minus the rear power options). does anyone know whether this is true? (removing them in this weather is something else entirely though!)

I would say 1/3 to 1/2 these cars when they look perfect is they have gone into limp mode, and sign is oil in the TCU/ TCU connectors are wet of tranny fluid... or conductor plate...

That 2nd and reverse throws many Indie-shops off, and say you need a new tranny.

Here is the Info I found in regards of how to take the B Pillars of . Don't forget that you can also restore/paint your existing once ,depends how much they charge you for them that are on that car .
Bring a spare battery or charger with you ,I'm sure you need to wind the windows down ,alternatively maybe you can unhook the clip that holds the windows up ,this way they just fall/slide down ,remove the electric window motor 1st ,that should do the trick.

I just had a good look how to remove these B Pillars on mine .Looks to me its not a to small of a job removing these Pillars ,unlike the Audi or BMW's have that only have two small nuts on the bottom & one on each side to remove .
It really shows the Build quality of the W140's ,just amazing how these cars are well build ,trouble for us is that sometimes it requires us to remove a quarter or more parts just to get to some specific parts on the car ,the B Pillars are just one of those .

Maybe these don't even have a screw or nuts anywhere and are just forced in with those clips on the side ,check on that when you get there , on my car they are solid and I cant see anything ,not nuts or screws nowhere ,even the rubber around the door blocks it on the top ,cant see anything .
Maybe Eddie.A could give you a better hint then me on these .

Try to get these two dome/reading lights as well if they come of undamaged ,the are clipped in and fragile usually ,I need the clips With it as well as I lost some ,my rear drivers side light is just sort of pushed in back there but holds . If they want a rip of price for those don't worry about them ,it's not a hard to get part & not much important
