I changed the batteries in my key fob for my 1998 E320 but now the door opener button won't work. It locks and the trunk opens but it won't unlock with this key fob. It clicks when the unlock button is pressed. I have a second key fob that works but would like to repair this one.

Any ideas? I'm guessing I knocked something out of place on the chip inside the key when changing the batteries.

I'm told it's $275 to replace the key so I'd rather try to fix it first.

Yes the tactile switch get a bad soldered joint and easy to re solder back

Just use a knife to lift the catch on the white nylon strip holding the PCB in, the it all slides out.

Ignore the coil in the picture

If the tactile switches are all soldered down well, then the fault will be in the through hole plating where it can go open circuit if the key ever got damp. This is possible to fix by passing a thin strand of wire through the hole and soldering both sides.

It turns out a piece did separate from the circuit board. Need to solder it.
