The lights used to come on intermittently. I took it to my mechanic and he changed the brake light switch, but it did not fix it and now the lights are on continually. It comes on whether I have my foot on the brake when I start it or not. Also, my cruise control works fine with the lights on.
Could it be a faulty switch or is it my CU?
What is the next step to take in solving the light headache?

I have the same issue, has been on for years.

I was told at one point that it was due to a bad "lateral speed sensor" which was a few hundred dollars to replace.

I know that the traction control still works even though the light is on, which is the biggest concern.

Lateral speed sensor is in your trunk on a tray right behind your rear seat. There is a plastic top with three plastic screws. A large screwdriver will help you twist them out. It is VERY easy to change yourself.

Good luck.

Make sure that is the correct part. It should be similar.
