On my 1997 mercedes E class I just replaced my key batteries, but now my car wont unlock/lock.
Any suggestions?

Your MY require key synchronization. I believe the procedure is in stickies.

About 4" from top of this page you will find chain of links to this page.

The keys on the '97 seem to be unique, so you are likely going to get information on other years, which could be confusing. First make sure the red light on the corner of the key lights briefly when you push the button and hold it for more than one second. If not check the battery orientation. Plus should be up.

The sync. procedure is 1; Aim transmitter at a receiver (like the base of the mirror). 2; Press the button twice and within 30 seconds insert key and turn to position two. Now the IR control should work.
