Is the iCarsoft Mercedes II scanner the best bang for the buck for the w202? I can not seem to find it in ebay, maybe you can send a link if possible?
There are multiple wheel speed sensors and there is no way to determine which sensor is defective with out a scanner. If you are going to keep this vehicle and do your own repairs I suggest you purchase an iCarsoft Mecedes II scanner. You will find it invaluable. I would also suggest a digital manual. They are inexpensive in ebay. By the way, not only can a wheel speed sensor cause your issue, but also an ABS brake module may also cause the same symptoms. Also, if you do replace a defective sensor, you will have to clear the fault codes - which requires a scanner or a trip to the dealer or a Benz shop.
Thanks gorj, I'll look into it. But going back to my inquiry, is it the best bang for the buck for our w202?
Thanks for the info. I gathered that it cannot scan older w202s. Mine is a 1997 model with delvery date Feb 1996 based on VIN, By the way, what is paint code 1? I'm sorry if I am already out of topicYes. Less expensive scanners will not read all the modules. This one will. I have used it several times on my W209.
By the way, try this link to get all the information about your MB.
