After the terrible thunderstorm in the South East UK a couple of days ago I discovered that my passenger footwell resembled a fishtank.

The water had come through where the blower motor is located - when I took the panel off, another couple of pints of rainwater gushed out. As I'd parked the car under a tree and there were a lot of dead leaves around the base of the windscreen I presumed that they'd clogged some drain valve, so I cleared them all away and bailed out the car.

This morning I took the car down to the jetwash, and when I drove off it was like Niagara falls inside the car, so the problem still seems to be there. I'm not really sure where to go from here - can anyone suggest anything? The car's starting to smell like a sewer.

>>so I cleared them all away<<

Can you be more specific? If you list them, maybe someone will be able to notice one you missed. I assume you got the big one at the bottom corner of the box under the vents (accessed from inside the engine compartment)?

Well, I just cleared away all the leaves I could find under the back edge of the bonnet - there were a few openings I could see, but I'm not sure where they all lead. There's a black box under the bonnet with a cover, but it looks like I need to remove the plastic grille and bonnet seal to the right of the windscreen wiper to be able to open it up - I'll spend some more time on it this weekend.

Search the archives over at club202.com for help on this subject. I don't know if things switch sides due to your steering wheel being on the right but there is a drain flap on the passenger side of that box in the lower corner. It usually gets plugged up. Some people disassemble the box to get in and clean everything out. Others just use a stick to shove up into the flap and dislodge the clog.

We have the same car and I had the same problem. As I'm Italian I hope I can help you with my bad English.
The problem is a small black plastic tank located under the plastic down to the anteriore car window. This tank is connected to the right anterior mudguard with a hose which is supposed to discharge out the water.
This hose on my car was completely full of garbage so didn't work.

So remove the two plastics under the anterior window all around the wiper (you don't need to touch the wiper) and then the big plastic (two lateral plastic bolts and in the middle I think 6 screws but not sure).

The small tank is located behind the blower motor; you can see the A/C filter too from that.

Try to add water on it and check if it discharge or not. disconnect the hose and clean it from the slime-mud. connect the hose and check how it goes.

If you know what to do it's a 10 minute jobs. probably for the first time you'll need about 30 minutes.

hope you can understand my english...

A.
