At last the wait is over! Very pleased with how the car turned out. Original post here: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w140-s-class/1783306-opinions-94-600-coupe.html

Very few problems for a V12 W140. Sunroof needs some attention; fake AMG placard on dash needs to be removed; seat lumbar is inop; radio amplifier needs replacing; needs a new antenna; and it needs all the engine harnesses, throttle bodies, and MAF's replaced.

All in all it is about what I was expecting. I am overjoyed that the interior is as clean as it is. I was a bit worried the grey on grey on grey would be a bit boring, but it's very nice color combo in person. The pictures really don't do it justice.

I can't tell you what a wonderful feeling it is to own a W140 again. There is no other car like it. Solid, well built tanks these are. The last S-Class worth purchasing.

Cruddy cell phone pics for now. More later as things progress.

Wait a minute... A W140 S600 coupe fairly priced at $9.5-10.5k doesn't need all the engine harnesses, throttle bodies, and MAF's replaced. What's up with that?

Brett
Soybean harness. That's what's up with that. LOL. No biggie. I saved all my sources from the last time I did a harness. All in all it's about $4k and labor is free at my shop.

Looks awesome - but please do not tell me that is your garage!
Thanks!

Okay, I won't  Not 100% mine, but my mother owns it (the dealer). She decided to buy the place last summer after receiving word they were going to close down. I am one of the managers here.

Ohhh what I would do to have a garage with a hoist! That is part of my grand plan!

Car looks amazing - nice find!

Hoists are surprisingly affordable (in my opinion anyway). Decent mid-rise scissor for US$1500. Now, the commercial ones in the pics above will set you back a couple thousand more, but the mid-riser is pretty utilitarian. Looking at your profile list... sell a car, grand plan achieved... :) unless it's the garage, not the lift that is the sticking point.

The degrading harness I understand. I don't understand that a coupe needing a harness, throttle bodies, and MAF's is worth 10 grand as stated in your earlier thread. Otherwise, it appears a nice coupe. Good luck with it. Keep us posted on progress.

For me it is the garage height - my garage is a sunken one under the house so I can open the hood but not get the car very far off the ground :-(
Personally, I have a low-rise lift that gets the car about 36 inches off the ground. Works great for most things. Don't even think about pulling a transmission on a rear drive car with it though, due to the frame of the lift down the middle. Same with a mid-rise scissor, BTW. But still, there's a lot of advantage with even a low-rise lift. Unfortunately mine's been out of commission, so to speak, for many years b/c my engineless 911's been parked on top of it. LOL

Congratulation MBF,very nice coupe ,i like the grey on grey,i receive'd my 600 as well a few days ago, its taking me some time to adjust to the creamy colour'd interior after aprox 6 years in a grey one & the new Benzworld username as well,i was locked out yesterday as I didn't think about that it had been changed lol .
Lucky you got the workshop there where you get everything done quickly at no labour expense .
Congrats again & Well done she looks excellent & so does the workshop .

BTW:If your engine harness is gone ,I highly advise you to also check the harness at the mirrors ( door). I pulled mine out & found the passenger wires were touching each other ,drivers was ok . If you notice smoke coming from the mirrors while folding them, stop folding instantly or you know what will happen.
It's only about a few inches to isolate with some electrical tape ,I did that and all is ok ,no more smoke.
