Greetings everyone. I am from South Africa. I have a 1994 Mercedes Benz S600 (W140). Recently I have had this problem that does not even pick up on the revs as soon as I engage the gears. Even if I press down on the accelerator paddle. However...when I switch it OFF again...and start it again...then I can rev it. So..the problem is only there when I engage the gears. I need some advice, please...as I have to get the beast sorted before my daughter's wedding in October! Thank you in advance. Kind regards, Brandon

Brandon,

Can you take a vid of the engine response both in and out of gear , via the tachometer?

Have you built a blink style diagnosis tool? Or do you wave access toma shop with MB Star?

I have a 91 S600 up here in Uganda. Mine does not have the trans ecu that can throw limp mode. Sounds like your car does.

If the OP is correct that their car is model year 1994, it has a 722.363 4-speed transmission and the auto-box is NOT electronically controlled.
It sounds like the engine revs freely when there is no load, but as soon as the transmission engages, it bogs down.
Better description is needed.
