I am trying to help a friend out who is selling his 1994 E500.

The car is located in San Diego, CA. My friend just had it repainted in the factory black, so the paint is basically flawless.

The car has 158k on it and in the last year, has had the following replaced:
Shocks all the way around
Front brakes
Wheel bearings

The E500 is an amazing car, as you all know, based upon its joint development between Mercedes and Porsche.

He is asking $16,900 for the car, but is open to offers.

No accidents or mileage issues that I know of since Alex has owned the car.

I contacted him and he said that, yes, the carfax does show some sort of accident from 1995 or 1996, but he can't see any indication of the damage that was done so the damage was either relatively minor or else was repaired to a high standard.

The carfax doesn't show anything for a mileage roll back, so he's not sure what you are asking about. The previous owner had let the car sit for the last 4 years or more, so it really hasn't had any miles put on it in quite some time which is why a carfax report doesn't really show any milage per se recently, if that is what you are referring to. He got the car with 158k on it and he says it turned over to 159k just recently.

Auto check shows Odometer rolled back by approx 3,000 Miles in 1994 and front impact on fixed object (accident) in 1995-Case#0950071805. Rollback may be clerical error and accident may be minor. But, it was recorded in its history per auto check. And I'd like to know the story so I asked

Sometimes Carfax don't capture all info on vehicles and I'm not saying Auto check is better. I'm currently looking to buy a car. So, I subscribe to both and cross reference the vehicle I'm searching.

Both of those events were way before Alex's or even the guy he bought it from's ownership.

crazy asking price considering the mileage and the fact that it's been resprayed. For $17k I would expect one to be wayunder 100k miles, all the records/docs, and garage kept.
