Hello to all from a visitor from the 300D section.
The reason I'm over here is to ask you fine people what you think of a 94 190E with 75,000 original miles. My neighbor bought it new, and parked it in her garage 5 years ago when she bought a new Chrysler, and just left it. It is a weird brown with red (possibly leather) interior, and ground effects with the rear wing and rims painted the same color as the car. She just started it this past Monday, and then had it flatbedded to a shop to have the gas tank dropped and cleaned and put back into proper running condition (approx. $900.00). The trunk says 2.3 and she says it is a 4 cylinder built in 1994, but I cannot find a "94" 190E on the Kelly Blue Book site to find its value.
It does need tires (dry rot and thin on tread), a brake job, and probably a front end alignment as it pulls a bit. The interior is great, the body is straight, but with a few little scuffs here and there.
SOoooo, what do you think it's worth? Or, is it even worth buying? Maybe I should just stick with my old
smokey 300D.
Guide me O' Wise One's.
Thank you.

The 1984 was the introductory year for the 190E in North America. It was available in Europe the year before in both carburated and fuel injected verisons. If the wing, bodykit and wheels were original equipment, it could be that you have a "tuned" W201, either by AMG or the other tuners of that period, like Lorinser, Brabus, MAE, and others.

I had an '84 AMG tuned car. Except for the SEC grill, this is what the pieces should look like

Are the wheels the 5 spoke "pentas"?

No, the rims are a flat "factory" looking pancake rim. It does have all the body panels that you show, and all was installed by the factory prior to her purchase. Is it worth buying? Are there any problems to look for in the 190, or are these vehicles a problematic car in general?
I will try to take a picture of it this week, and will post it ASAP.
Thank you for your reply.
Lancer.

1993 is the last model year for the 190. Be sure to check the vin number for authenticity. Also, what is the manufactured date on the drivers side door jamb? If she bought the car new she should have all of the books that came with the car.

I mis-read the year, thought it was '84 . . . however, I have seen people, including dealers, misinterpret the model year as 1994, when the car was built in '1993. The easiest way to check is to look at the build date on the data plate on the inside of driver's door pillar.

A '93 with relatively low miles and AMG tuned would be quite a find.
