hello all..

i am new here...my 1993 300sd just started making a crazy high pitched noise when the radio is on...sounds like it may be the amp??

very annoying sort of ear test sound...very high pitched..happens after the radio is turned on...sometimes right away..sometimes after the radio has been on for 30-40 seconds??

anyone???

I've got a 1992 500SEL and seem to have the same problem. Mine has progressively gotten worse. It seems isolated to the driver's side door speakers. The high pitch eventually led to high screeching. It used to stop but now continues until the radio is shut off. I was going to look through the forum for any solutions else I'm off to the radio shop.

100% Bose amp.
If you are stalling for time, disconnect that particular speaker to avoid damage to the speaker itself, and to allow you to listen to the stereo untill you score a new amp.

There are a few places you can get an amp. Junkyards, Ebay and Becker I think has a list of dealers who can rebuild the amp. Rebuilt it will run no less than 400. New is in 1000+ range.

I have done a search and it seems like the Bose Amp. I've attempted to pull out the amp but find that I don't have the proper tools to test the amp and verify which board is giving me the problem. There are 7 marked CF, RR, LR, RF, LF, RW, LW. I guessed LF is left front, driver side which is the problem speakers. When I pulled the board there was plenty of resin sealing the board to prevent tampering so I have no way of finding which component is causing the problem -- if it truly is the probelm. I'm going to head to a local electronics shop and hope they can probe a bit with their oscilloscope before I send it out to Becker. Stay tuned.

this just started happening to me.. dammit i love my music and the sound system in this car. i bought an amp off of someone on ebay for 240 bucks and it worked for a little over a year. Im a 21 year old college student, so its not quite feasible to buy the 1000$ replacement with a warranty. should i just find another deal or spring for the 1000$ replacement?
