so, if it's really cold in the am, like 0C cold, my clutch pedal is slow to return. everything works fine, just it comes up like something is gummy/gooey. thoughts?

nah, it doesnt feel like that. its only on return.
i bet the pivot point has thick, old goo on it.

I hope so, but this happened to my w124 (5-speed) and it was the fault of the cylinder.
Search for "clutch pedal" in the w123 forum.

Its easy to disconnect the cylinder actuating rod to try the clutch pedal without the cylinder. This will help isolate the problem to cylinder/pedal pivot. Remember that the slave cylinder also pushes on a lever with a pivot point, and that could be gummy as well.

that's what im leaning towards, is a gummy pivot. it's ONLY when its super cold out, and ONLY on pedal return. the pedal goes bwwwwwwwwwwwwAP back rather than returning in a snappy fashion.
