1992 400SE, Armored/Bulletproof
Well, I drove 2hrs to see this car anyway, and I get there and am informed that it indeed has the afformentiond upgrades.
Considering that I thought the price was a great deal anyway, I was very pleased with this information.
I am curious though, I haven't found any information suggesting this was an option at this time, but was told the original owner (2nd owner now) had it armored from the factory.
Out of curiosity, has anyone seen many of these? Or this option available back then?
Also, the car has about 97k, AC works but hasn't had the usual things go wrong yet (condenser is it?), vacuum assist is fine, which seems to be the most common issues if I'm not mistaken.
Brakes and rotors have all been recently replaced and rubber has <3k (miles) on them.
Anyway, all in all this car is beautiful and always maintained by MB. Am I mistaken or is a price <$17,00 quite reasonable?

Sounds like a good price,
Espiecially with those upgrades. Looks just like my '93 300SE, except I have it on 18 Carlsson 1/6 Evo Diamond Editions. My interior is saddle leather. Great, except it shows dirt better.

] J/K. Yeah, if it's bulletproof, it would be more heavier then stock. So, you'd need a V8 or V12 to power it. Nice car though. Enjoy.

Yup. V8s have hood vents. I6's in America dont. Besides, Armoured cars started coming in i think 93 AND they were 5.0 V8 or 6.0 V12. Your car's interior has absolutely no "enhanced" features either. Looks just like a 300SE

As was stated earlier, an aftermarketer could have converted. There are several companies out there that would bullet-proof a sky blue AMC Pacer if you pay them to. And the VIN wouldn't reflect that. That or the original guy just didn't know what he was talking about.

I've never had one before so, although the glass does look think, it didn't really look like bullet-proof glass/lexan/etc...
Of course I couldn't check in the body panels for the stated "Kevlar paneling". I haven't purchased the car yet as I am trying not to be impulsive. We are going to take it to the local MB dealer this week and get the whole low-down on the maintenance history, I can surely find out then if the car is really armoured and if it is, whether or not it is factory.
