hi, i have a 1991 300e. 3.0 i believe. the problem is I have changed several voltage regulators on the alternator.
they last longer when i just drive in the city. but everytime i hit the highway with the car, it goes.
when i remove the regulator, one of the brushes is still like new, and the other one is warn down. same one is warn down all the time.
one thing i don't understand is that it will last months in city driving, but not even 50 kms on the highway. do you think something is wrong inside the alternator? or they are just cheap regulators?
thanks in advance.
