Guys, Sorry for delayed posting and reply. No, it's not "Post and Run", Brian. Attached is the link to photos. Few points for consideration:
- I am second proud owner, like the first one.
- I bought it at around 42K mile and had new tires installed (ECOPIA), rear brakes done (rotors and pads), timing cover gasket replaced (small leak), Fan belt (serpentine) replaced.
- Minor head gasket leak now but not a big deal for those who knows these cars. Very small leak (not drip on the floor at all).
- Just recently I am getting brake light for front. Still good for few miles before replacement.
- Hazard light switch broke in use. Easy replacement ($26 new from Dealer).
- Original ski racks can be bought with the car for $200 additional.
- Free car cover to buyer
- I have had overbidding on this car up to $7,500 despite my start price for $6,995. I am not going to sell the car to someone who will not appreciate the value of this jewel.
- I am in Central NJ and will sell only to someone in this forum (presume we all are carbuffs for MB) for $7,500. Not greedy but that is what I have a standing offer for.
- Will show after personal discussion over the phone only. Send email and your info including your phone # and your MB ownership etc. No re-sellers please. I am going to maintain an use this car for life if I can't get a buyer who truly enjoys having this car.
- First owner can be contacted for additional details. I chose to not take any records from him even though he offered. Nice gentleman and did the sale on trust.
- Have manuals and all 3 keys.
- Has LoJack installed.

Hope this covers all questions. Currently I have about 49,900 or so miles. Fun to drive and listen to it's engine and exhaust sound!!!!!

Maintenance records (ALL)

Why didn't you take all the maintenance records?

Maintenance records belong with the car, not a former owner. They add value to a car and help you sell it when the time comes.

If they are still being offered, you should get them, or at least make copies to stay with a car. How long can it take to make copies, 10 minutes?

You should make every effort to get the records from the original owner and put together a binder of the complete maintenance history.

The pictures look nice, I hope the car finds a good home, at that price it probably will...

Find someone who will garage it always, will never drive it on salty roads, and not need to rack up thousands of miles a year on it.

(Two of my fleet are orginal California cars, always garaged, never been driven on salty roads, don't have a single spot of rust anywhere, and stored during the winter. That's the kind of care your car should get)

If I had the room and extra money, I'd probably make an offer if the car is as described.

My opinion is that if you are looking for a premium price on a 20+ year old sedan that you should fix the items mentioned and get your asking price. No one feels comfortable buying a car with a list of items that need repaired with the owner throwing out costs to them. Your list doesn't imply a pride of ownership, only that you bought I nice older car and have done little to make it correct. A smart buyer will have a PPI done on the car and probably expand your list which puts you in a poor negotiating position. A "minor head gasket leak is not a positive selling tool. Spend a little money and get the car right and go for your asking price. I hate seeing ads that say car is "perfect" except tranny has no reverse, over heats, stops running after 10 min. called a tech and he said it was a $150 OX sensor. Premium price = no excuses car. That's my 2 cents. GLWS

Someone offered $1500 over an already very high asking price and you said no? Did that offer involve an ever higher check asking you to pay for shipping? The mileage demands a premium but the work needed is common to any mileage. I'm glad you disclosed it however. I'd have taken the money, said thank you, and looked for another with the issues sorted at half the price.

I would pay you immediately $8500, but my intended use for the car is to enter the 24 Hours of Lemons with it. And seeing how this would not adhere to your rigid standards of care for the next owner, I can only assume that my offer is dead on arrival. But, I am still a rabid MB carbuff...

Great looking car, seemingly a rare color combo and one that would only really look good on a car in this condition.

However, those $20 wal-mart floor mats don't speak well for its ownership, I wouldn't put those in my work truck, let alone a low mileage Mercedes-Benz!

All fair remarks. Skeptics and good faith appreciators are all collectors. I am not. I bought it for my kid's local driving need and found it too be a great car so did some needed maintenance and enjoy using it. Clearly did not go too deep as a collector would to get all the records and address all the issues to make it a Pebble Beach display car. All fair for a collector to do. No debate.

Guys I respect your passion for this brand and your possessions. Those mats are not designers or MB German made OEM equipment but has a common sense purpose and that is to protect the original one underneath while we use the car in normal weather in NJ. Why I did not sell at $7,500 is a very appropriate question. I am in love with the car and can't seem to depart with to someone who simply offers the right price. Like it or not, I will sell to someone who will appreciate this car for a long time and not speculate on why this, why that.

Again, appreciate all the remarks. Let's move on. I may chime in to get your counsel for future maintenance if I decide to keep it. Thanks again. All the best.

Hope you find the right person...
Happy new year!
