Is the transmission fluid cooler on this car somehow linked to the engine cooling system?
My cousin is in Miami and the garage are telling her that the transmission fluid is getting into the engine cooling system, this is rotting the coolant hoses and is why one has burst. They are proposing by-passing the factory set up and fitting an external cooler.
I'm just trying to check that what they are telling her is correct.

Thanks:)

You don't need an external cooler that is silly...You already have one...In the radiator.

The only way it is getting into the cooling system is if the radiator is broken since that is where it goes to. Other than that, make sure its not getting sucked up into the intake manifold via the vacuum modulator hose.
