So is $900 to much to pay, or is it in the ball park?

!989 420SEL 54K Location Near Trenton and Princeton NJ.

Doing the chain because of noise and age, not miles.

Thanks
Bruce

If it is Dave J's, I might be concerned they aren't using the MB tensioner. From the forums, it seems like that part needs to be genuine in order to avoid catastrophic failure.

Hi there,

Years ago, October, 2004... and at an MB dealership, Timing Chain, Upper Rails and Tensioner, tensioner rail & the oiler nozzles were done on my 560 for $1000 as memory serves.....

I have never looked back on that bit of maintenance... Money well spent to my mind.

Cheers, MBL

Thanks Guys

Nah not Dave J's, J & B on Edingburg Rd. Mercerville. Last one I had done, was a few years ago, and I had the valve seals done at the same time. OK so maybe 12 years ago. I think it was $1050 for both the chain job and seals.

We will see, it gets the work done Thursday.

Just picked up my 560SEC with 92,000 miles she went in for timing chain , tensioner and guides, oilers and new cam sprokets all was $990 and amazing difference she's back and feels new with the pickup she deserves my mechanic did an amazing job . Im believe the best money spent only take your car to a real benz mechanic. get reviews here on the topic and go see them in person first . good luck
