1989 300 e grill

I'm looking at buying a 300 E 1989 model and was wondering if the original grill has a huge mercedes emblem in the middle, all others I've seen do not have such a grill - is this guy yanking my chain saying it's original? Help ?

Not sure, I always thought the center star grill was an AMG thing or after market upgrade – I could be wrong; try posting a question on the w124 forum, I’ll bet they’d know. Good luck.

Trust your instincts -- your chain is definitely being yanked. The grill screen you've described in strictly aftermarket.
