Hello all, i have a 1988 190e 2.3 . Some idle issues have developed within the last few months. When i start the car it momentarily pauses at about 800 rpms before taking off to around 1500 rpms. When put into gear it jerks then settles down to regular idle speed. When taken from gear into park it revs backup. From what iv read , i think this has something to do with the ICV which iv taken out and cleaned with carb cleaner. Anyone have a similar problem or any idea what the problem is? Thank you

aside from the ICV check the vac hoses all of them. any vac leaks can affect idle. check your OVP as well. there is a thread on here somewhere detailing how to properly check the OVP.

the symptoms sound similar to ones my 2.3 8v had a while back which were cured when i replaced the potentiometer (air flow position sensor) in the fuel distributor. there are several threads about this on this site, some by me.
