Wondering about this car. Have pictures but can't upload them. 1986 560sel verified by title. amg steering wheel, body kit, floor mats. Ronal Penta wheels but don't have amg stamped on them. although they do have Ronal stamped on them. Correct badging and kit seems to be authentic, with amg stamp and small amg stamp on inside right front bumper. I'm wondering what other clues there are as to whether this is a real amg and how much it is worth?? thanks for any input
ill try to upload pictures.

Please complete your profile. The value of the car can easily depend on it's location and we have no idea where you are on the planet. It's easier to help that way!!

If it's a true AMG and there are sufficient maintenance records, then it could be a great find.

Judging on those photos, that's a 1986 SEL with a body kit, a steering wheel, Ronal R9s (not AMG), and portholes - yuck, portholes. Not worth anything.

Looks good to me, I LOVE That rear spoiler, floor mats, and the monochromatic paint. Not a fan of the steering wheel or Ronals though.

What the heck are those two holes on the Passanger side fender for??
And why does it have Zebrano wood?
That makes me think it has been redone or has been improperly badged.
I don't think it's a 560, It doesn't have the Burwood and it doesn't have the twin Snorkel airbox.

Interesting car. Doesn't have burlwood inside like most 560's would. Doesn't have the driver's side air snorkel on the air filter unless its just missing.

This isn't a 560.

Its obviously a 500SEL with 560 badging. Check the stamping/date. Looking from the likes of it I'm betting it is a '85 or older model.

Can you post the VIN, we can pull a LOT info about the car there....

Given its drawbacks (portholes?!) and assuming its an AMG "kit" car I'd say this is still a great car to save!

Genuine full AMG ground effects, AMG Silberpfeil steering wheel as well.....nice colour too.

suspension doesn't look AMG, but who knows what cams lurk beneath the valve covers.....

No 560 but, that don't mean it's not a good car, I like it a lot
It's a euro spec 500SEL with AMG bits and pieces, does it really matter if AMG fitted them or not? Not to me it don't

You should try and get it for sure

wondering why it says 560 on title and i also noticed that it has a brand on the title
53300-1986
its a washington state title

also, i looked at the cams and didn't see any amg markings on the end. wondering what i should look for. and what is the power of a 500sel and what year is this car???

I am getting an engine out of a similar car. The on in my sig, Mine is a stock Euro engine and it's supposed to have about 230HP. And that's not bad considering what the US power ratings are. If yours is in fact a GEN II car it will be higher than that already and if it turns out that you have An AMG engine or AMG components it will be higher than 250 for sure.

It must have been imported and improperly titled. Becuase that is no 560 for what I can see.

That car isn't a gen II, it still has the warm up reg and early dist. cap..

People got 'creative' from time to time when bringing cars in, the year on the title doesn't mean much.. Have you run your VIN through the Russian MB site? That will tell you everything RE where and when your car was born.

If no AMG markings on the cam it's likely just a stock Euro 500...about 240HP.

Interesting car none the less! Take a look, see what colour the springs are and clean off the lower half of the shocks, see if you they are AMG or not.

I looked at the springs, they are black with some red and green paint. but stock. and shocks are stock. no amg markings. Is there any way to know if the car was put together (the amg stuff) professionally or if it was added later? And honestly i don't know what a car like this is worth. With my non existent knowledge of old amg's I would only pay around $1000 for it but i don't know if there's something I'm missing. I could probably get it for about 2 grand. is that a good buy???.

For the record there is no such thing as an "AMG" car. Meaning the buyer could have bought as much or as little as they wanted. Just the body kit (or any part) would get you the "AMG" plate. Some people went for looks some went for sleepers (engine mods and nothing on the outside), some went for everything available. The ONLY way to tell what you have is to do a lot of research.
BTW this car may not even be a 1986. It has the older valve covers, old window switches, older distributor, can't see if it has the A/C fuel cooler - I thought some of this got changed by 1986???

My 86 500 SEC was badged and titled a 560 but it is actually a 500. The 86 motor has black valve covers, they look exactly like a 560 motor when compared side by side.
