1985 gray market import 500SEL. VIN: WDB1260371A129561. Title says 1986 but it is a Gen I car. Black with Grey interior. Genuine Lorinser front and rear bumpers, Zender 1 piece side skirts and spoiler. Only 124,4XX miles. I bought the car a year and a half ago. It is located in minnesota but has been garaged its entire life. It was a california car up until I believe 1997. I have been storing the car for 4 months now taking it for a spin every sunday. There are a few little things about the car that are less than perfect but overall it is a excellent car. I'm not going to BS or waste anyones time so instead of outlining all of the things that are great about the car (how good of condition it's in, how smooth it rides, how well its been maintained, ect..) I am highlighting the few minor issues to paint a clear picture of the vehicle. This car has been well maintained its entire life. I had a 86 420SEL as well as a 88 300E (also for sale) so 80's mercedes are not new to me, nor to the guy I bought it from. The man I bought it from has a 560SEL, 560SEC, 450SEL, and a 944 Porsche. He maintains all of his cars meticulously which is why I purchased the vehicle from him. He drove the car spring/summer/fall where it was parked outside so as I said, a buff would do wonders.

Exterior The paint is in good shape, the body is in really good shape. There is a small spot on the roof where it is peeling but there is black paint underneath it. On the ENTIRE car the is only ONE dent (pictured) and a weird half dollar sized ripple from a emblem near the license plate. There is a scuff down the rear passenger door and a surface scratch on the rear quarter which I imagine can be buffed out. A buff would do wonders. The trunk is from a 560SEL but I have the 500SEL badge. There is a piece of chrome trim that is missing in the pictures but I have it. There is a tiny crack in the front bumper also pictured. It has the euro bosch headlights. One has a tiny chip that I siliconed. For being a 1985 the car is in very good shape. I hosed the car down since it has grass clippings on it from moving the lawn the day before pictures so that is why it looks wet (cause it is).

Interior When the car was in storage it got broken into, they stole my CD player and subs out of the trunk. The dash was slightly damaged from the break in, I have a interior repair specialist coming monday to repair the dash. Aside from that the interior is in incredible shape for a 25 year old car. The seats have little to no wear and the dash and no cracks in it. The rear bottom seat is a little rough on the drivers side (I'm not sure why) but it's not terrible. The arm rest has a little wear but that is to be expected. The passenger right rear window needs a window regulator, oddly enough it was stolen with the subs and CD player, so someone knew what they were looking for when they broke into it. The windows are slow to roll up, the door locks are finicky, and the dome lights don't work. Those are the only issues with the interior. They may just be fuse related. Needs antenna installed but I have a new one in the trunk. Like most SEL's the sunroof does not work. Though there are a few little issues (all mentioned) the interior is truly in impressive shape. Depressingly impressive for me as it's in far better shape then the interior in my 2000 S500!

Engine The motor runs strong, transmission shifts smooth, just got a new AC evaporator pump (I believe thats what it is called) and the alternator is being rebuilt as we speak. The cats were either never installed on the car (being a euro import) or were removed. The car has a nice gentle sound at idle and when you step on the gas it gives a nice muscle car rumble.

Wheels The car is being stored on the 15" wheels from my 420SEL, though they are included they are dry rotted so you'd need new tires on them, HOWEVER, the reason it's on the 15's is because I didn't want to get flat spots on the 18x8 +15 polished AMG wheels that come with the car. Tread is around 50% on them. They are perfectly flush on the car and are specifically for the W126 chassis. They are polished aluminum, they could use a quick re-polish and some new centercaps. Centercaps are ~$20 on ebay.

These are the wheels that are included pictured on my 420SEL

I am asking for $3,250 FIRM. I think that price is MORE than fair. They go for about $5k-7k on ebay with more mileage than mine has, and those ones sure don't have a authentic Lorinser kit and AMG wheels. 612-916-7448 - Sam

Nice car.
It looks to have a complete late model Gen 2 interior (88 onwards) with bigger 'perforated' pleats on the seats, newer style window switches in the center console, the smaller Gen 2 airbag and the facelift pleated door cards. It also seems to be fitted with Gen 2 door cladding without the 'ribbs'.
Are you sure it's Gen 1?
Good luck with the sale.
