Looks interesting but a money pit. It's been sitting, located in a salt state, unknown true mileage due to cluster swap, no mention of rust.

1985 mercedes 500 sel (euro model)

"I have a 85 mercedes 500sel euro model for sale. I,ve owned this car for four years and i,m the 3rd owner. This car was $64,000 brand new. Its in good but not perfect condition for its age. 300hp v8 automatic transmission. Has the loziner body kit on it. New true dual exhaust with h-pipe. I also have a series 50 flowmaster muffler on it. Nice rumble but not too loud. The only reason im selling because i'm moving out of state and i cannot take it with me. I haven't driven it much lately and now it needs a brake line, and gas line fixed. It also needs tires. It a very nice, very well built german car. The older ones were bulletproof. Ive seen them with over 250,000 miles on them and still going. Parts for that car are not as expensive as you think. Parts for new cars go for 3 times as much. It has 128,000 on the odometer which isn't alot for these cars as long as you take care of them. They called this one the euro limo. Lots of legroom. honestly that is very reasonable. that is if it only needs some minor repairs as they say. looks promising. if it was a close drive, i'd check that out. but indiana is a drive.

It's reasonably close to me, but I can't even think about taking this on, though I am tempted. If only I wouldn't have been an idiot and gotten a dui.

It may be worth checking out.

My guess is it needs a lot of work due to sitting as it appears to have been a little neglected. Being from the snowy midwest is a concern too as rust can find it's way in tight areas if it was driven in the winters. But IF it's a car with just a few neglected issues and a buyer can negotiate a bit more and then get away with $3-5k in delayed repairs, it may be worth it. Hard to say without actually seeing it in person. Odds are it needs more things fixed than the seller says which is why it was neglected in the first place and why the asking price is low. They almost always need more than meets the eye.

If I were looking for one, I would at least check it out. From a distance it looks very presentable. Plus, Euros are very desirable.

If it was close to me I'd be on it - at least check it out with best offer cash in pocket. But then again, nothing interesting is ever close to me ... sigh.
