Does anyone know what factory colors the 1985 SEC were available in? I have a 1985 500 SEC that came in a bluish/green color and it appears to be the factory paint. I also have factory Lorinser rims on her, but one of my cover came off, and I'm looking to replace it. They are hard to fine, since this is an old school Benz, so I might upgrade to the newer triple chrome rims.

Go here:

http://www.mb-w126-club.de/index.html , click "Ãœber den W126", then "Farbvariationen". Clicking on "Bild" in the right column gives you a sample of the color on a W126.

Metal tag on the radiator cross member/support will have your original color code

So a search on "Paint" for more info.

Hi dbui,

The above link is good. I found out a few things![:)]

Here's another on the body tag for you. It even lists paint code 877 (Petrol metallic) which my car is finished in. Perhaps yours was the same?

The search idea is a good one too, as there is wealth of info there.

Cheers, MBL

Hi,

Thanks for the info. It is exactly the same color: Petrol. Mine is not a duotone. The whole car is petrol. Was this an option to have the whole car in petrol? It also came with chrome Lorinser wheels with petrol on the edge of the rim. I'll post some pictures soon. I just redid the engine & transmission 30K miles ago. It wasn't cheap, but she is a beauty. I'm hoping the 500 SEC goes up in value here in the next 10 years.

Hi dbui,

I'm no expert on this one, but there have been some fairly recent posts showing EUROs 'all of one shade'.

I think you'll like what you see.....
