I use my car infrequently. Yesterday, after having not used the car for six months, it would not start. The engine turns over normally but will not fire.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what steps I should take to troubleshoot this problem? I'm thinking that it must be something relatively minor because last time I used the car it ran perfectly.

I had apparently same problem.
Check spark on any plug.
If NO, check spark out of Ignition Coil.
If NO, check if 12V is available before Ignition Coil.
if NO, should check Amplifier - this is garage storage? or rain-water can affect.

if all YES, fuel delivery should be checked.

The car is parked outside but always covered. I was thinking that it might be a fuel delivery problem (plugged injectors) since it had been sitting, but you're right, I should check for spark first.

I usually give mine a shot of starter fluid. It fired instantly, then I found the fuel pump had developed a flat spot. Since it's German, all it understands is force, I whacked it with a rubber hammer, and away it went! If it won't fire with ether, you know it's spark.
