Hello everyone!

I just recently purchased a 84' 500sec, with 90,000m, from a foreign salvage yard near Medford, Long Island. Apparently it was sold to them through auction and was traded in by the previous owner, I paid $2700 for the car. The exterior and interior are in decent condition with light rust in the common areas. Anyway, to get to the point, the car came with a new Bosch fuel pump, rebuilt Bosch fuel distributor, and fuel injection module(With only the fuel injection module? Installed, the rest of the parts were in the trunk). The car is running very rich with black smoke plummeting out of the exhaust constantly(especially during acceleration), it also has a difficult start condition where it has to crank several times with the pedal depressed (cold start), but starts right up warm! I will post pictures when I get a chance! I was hoping to get an I idea what it could be.

Both pumps were replaced, right? Was the filter replaced?

Also, the hard start problem is most likely your "Fuel Accumulator" located just above the fuel pumps and filter. A Bosch replacement is $110.00 from AutoHausAZ.com.

The smoke could be a couple of things fuel related. What's the cond of the plugs and wires and cap and rotor?

We were just talking about the hard start issue in a thread in the last two days.

Here it is.

Thank you for the quick reply!
I plan on doing a compression test, I will report back with the condition of the plugs, cap, rotor, I will also check the condition of the pumps and filter. I am actually going to Europe for tree weeks in sept. I plan on taking the car to a specialist upon coming back. I just wanted to know what to expect. I might do the work my self if I can narrow the problem down, but I know finding the solution will be difficult.
Thanks again
Marko
