Hey folks,
I'm new here.
I just bought myself an 84 300D, and I love it. A steal for 2600 bucks, it's beautiful, lovely, and the engine sounds like transformers gettin their clang on.

However, as I expected for a car so old, it's got a few flaws. The previous owner installed an aftermarket sound system with an AUX port. This isn't a problem, it's actually pretty amazing for me because I'm 19 and love music. That said, because i love my jams so much, the basic sound system just isn't cutting it for me. The A/C is also at issue. Converted from R12 to R134, it barely blows and half the time when it does blow it's shooting hot air, even with the wheel on Min Temp. When I say barely blow, I mean it's hard to feel with my hand in front of it, let alone when my hands are actually on the wheel. I usually have to keep my windows down all the time in this Alabama weather, and since my sound system isn't really loud at all, going over 35mph severely diminishes my musical enjoyment factor.

I found a nice website called crutchfield, their prices seem a little bit steep but I've heard good things about them. I'm wondering, would it be a huge job to replace the speakers myself? Should i get an amp? Mind you, I'm 19 years old, so budget choices are preferable.

More importantly, since this IS Alabama, how the Glob do I fix the A/C? I'm dying out here, guys.

Welcome to the Forum

Hey welcome ! In regards to the sound portion of your question Crutchfield makes it easy to install a new head unit by providing a harness that hooks up to the original Car's harness thus making an easy connection also if you choose an Alpine unit they normally fit with no additional hardware here are a couple of threads on installing a new Head unit with a bit of additional info as well as a vid on removing center console .
