My 84 190D 2.2 automatic in 4th gears at 60mph 3000rpm.
When I shift to 3rd it revs even hire.
Is that correct, ore do I have a problem.

No glow light on dashboard.
I can get it to light up if I play with ignition switch back and
forth. Still no working, I have to use starting fluid to start it.
Replaced glow plug relay still the same problem.
Dose it have sensor to tell it when to work?
Ore I have to look some wear ales?
I appreciate awry ones help.

using starting fluid is bad, check and replace all glowplugs if needed, start with that. my 2.5 is about 2,800 rpm at 60 so with a 2.2 that sounds about right

Sounds like you figured it out already but didn't realize it....

You said that the glow plug comes on if you jiggle the ignition switch.

If so, it is probably the ignition switch. The part is cheap, but a little frustrating to install...you have to remove the instrument cluster and it is sort-of accessible behind that.

I don't know exactly, but my mechanic did it for me, and I also read about it on a forum after mine was done.

Let us know how it goes.
