Attached there is section of original service manual covering engine timing.
I have replaced few worn valve lifters without disturbing the timing with just removing cylinder head cover and camshaft.
I secured the chain to gear with zip ties, used a flexible rope to pull it upwards while removing/refitting the camshaft and checking/replacing valve lifters.
Remember to undo the camshaft tightening bolts slowly and evenly, otherwise you might bend/damage the camshaft.
It is good idea to have new cylinder head cover gasket on hand.
Good luck!
