First comes the story, I was sitting in 5 o'clock traffic headed home and was bored so used my phone to get on craigslist and see whats been posted since I last checked. Well, 2hrs before I bought it a 1983 380SL was posted with no pics and just a number for an incredible price. I called, did a uturn and headed across town to look at it. I drove into the sketchy part of town and went to the address and bam hiding behind the house there it was.

Now the car, It is Black on Palomino with some 16inch weave wheels, zender sideskirts and rear spoiler, Amg front spoiler, euro headlights and taillights. a very nice set of European bumpers and to top it all off a new top and AMG steering wheel. Oh and a rear jump seat, but who wants that.

The car does run and I drove it home it was loud as crap because someone cross threaded number one cylinder spark plug and it wouldn't hold a plug. I drove it home on 7 cylinders and got some crazy looks but it was dark and I didn't care. It has 74k miles on the car, I cannot figure out what type of motor it is exactly. It has one plate on the entire car that identifies the vin and it is the importation sticker for Tennessee. Now behind the jack in the trunk is the code list for the car and it is the same vin except one digit is changed from a 4 to a 5. Anyways I will get the engine number in the next couple days to figure it out. I talked to someone else about it and the best thing that we can think of is that it is a converted euro 380 because it is a 107045.

Let me know what anyone wants. The pieces not for sale are the zender stuff and the wheels along with the steering wheel. Everything else have at it. Email me at [email protected] or call Andrew at 859-797-1499

Pictures listed below, I will post better ones tomorrow, it is dark outside.

The shifter knob has a crack, the nardi wheels occasionally come up on US ebay with the hubs.

Looks like an MB emblem in the steering wheel. Correct?
If so it is the same one I have. They made an AMG emblem for it too. Looking for AMG.

Good stuff Andrew... sounds like you bought it instantaneously, did you leave your other car there or was someone with you to bring it home?

Good luck with her!

Apparently Gen I shifter knobs aren't interchangeable with Gen II shifter knobs.

You have a Gen II, he bought a Gen I.

Very astute CC They are different. I have bought both.

I think Nobby has the steering wheel he wants but the phrase "From my cold dead hands" comes to mind.

Wheels look like a diamond in the rough. Show us some photos when you get them cleaned up. Pop the valve covers look for markings on cams to see whats stamped on them. Why are you parting it out ?

I am parting it out because I want to use most of the parts on my 560 that I have already put about 10k into. The wheels, sideskirts, steering wheel, and rear apron are all going on my 560.

I searched the part numbers on the wheels they come up to be rials that are seen on abunch of BMWs. Here is a picture i found on the internet, these are the same wheels just all polished up.

The car has a 14x6.5 steel wheel as the spare. I have never seen a steelie as a spare except in my 73.
