Today my engine began with a relatively subtle knocking noise coming from the engine. I drove it about 20 miles. Added about a quart of oil because the gauge said it was low. Hopped back in about 4 hours later and about 10 miles down the road the subtle knocking was now a loud knocking. I noticed loss in power immediately and the engine temp had skyrocketed. As I pulled over the engine died. I pulled the dipstick and added 2.5 more quarts. I added a video hoping that will clarify the knocking noise

If you do not know the answer to you own question I recommend you stop driving your own car. Call Uber.
just got the car and didn’t think to check the oil. Came here for advice or an explanation as to why there was the knock. Didn’t come here for douche remarks

Thanks for the backhanded answer. Not very knowledgeable on cars if you couldn’t tell. Do you kick down everyone that asks for help to make yourself feel better?

You are catching flak because to not check your oil, particularly on a newly acquired vehicle can only be described as a dumb-ass move.

Ignore the wanna be comedians.

General guess is you spun the bearings because oil was low, or the guy you bought if from screwed you.

Have you check the radiator fluid level? is there oil mixed with the water? Perhaps you blew the head gasket?

Sorry but you could very well need another engine.
