My parents are in Arizona for the winter and are considering purchasing a 1980 450 SL they found there. I don't know anything about this car, but will post details as I learn them.

What is an average price for one of these? Is there anything in particular they should be aware of or afraid of?

Any help or advice is appreciated.

Check out our buyer's checklist thread for insight as to what you need to look at.

Best thing if you do not know much about these cars is to read the Encyclopedia Germanica http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r-c107-sl-slc-class/1450550-encyclopaedia-germanica-volume-107-aka-egv107.html

Check the owner's records and get a pre-purchase inspection before committing any cash.

Good luck
Check the date of the thread first. :eek

There's a preference in many forum softwares that allows a thread to auto-lock after a certiorari. Period of inactivity.

It prevents the Jurassic threads from being re-animated....
