Hi I am an amateur mechanic. I am trying to start my fathers 1979 230 Mercury after 5 years. My issue is I need to flush the fuel lines but have no idea how to do this. I am willing to try if someone can give me a few hints on where to start and what to do. Can someone assist me?

well the lines are only one of your issues, if fuel was left in the tank it needs to be drained , filter screen cleaned , and tank cleaned. then the lines could be flushed and blown out with compressed air . Injectors may be clogged as well , removal and soaking would help. Then there is the fuel pump , hopeful it will spin up for you or thats another issue.
