I don't know anything about these cars, but I love them. Is a 1979 Mercedes 300 SD with 60,000 miles still a good buy? Does anyone know the gas mileage?

Thank you....

I have a 1980 300SD that I am parting out because of rust, but I used to get approx. 34 MPG on the highway and approx. 25-30 in town.

60,000 miles is nothing for this engine. I had a W123 300D which had 236,000 miles and still ran like new. I used to get between 24-42mpg (uk gallons)

At 300,010 miles, my old 1978 300D seized up because my then-18 year old daughter (who was using the car while we were in California, visiting relatives), forgot to add the 1 litre of oil it used every 1,000 km. We rebuilt the engine for $2,800 U.S.Dollars, and the car just passsed its half millionth mile!
