Id find another 2.8 engine and get the 280 running and swap the bumpers.

 

@rumb thank you, can you tell me why, other than engine are they identical ? Is the 2.8 a better engine or is that just based on the fact that engine work would be easier than body/interior. Is the 450 SEL inferior to the 280SE hence fix the 2.8? I certainly respect your opinion but just not sure what the basis is that would help me determine which choice to make.

280 has better body. I like the 280 engine also. I choose mostly based on work needed to build one good car. Not a fan of engine swaps either.

But its your car to do as you please. Both engines are good.
