Hi, I have a Mercedes Benz 1975 450 SL model, the car don't start, I check the battery and it's fine, the starter and it's fine (I wired directly to the battery). A guy came and told me maybe could be a relay because he feel that the keyswitch works fine. I don't know what can I do. I try to reomve the switch but looks like if the dashboard was one piece (the lower part where the switch it's located) so I don't know what to do. I found a relay under the dashboard but the serial number told me it's a turn lights relay...the number is 0 335 200 007 BOSH Relay. I don't know what to do and I don't want remove pieces I don't need to. I will thank any help here. Thanks!!

Well, if a car cranks, but doesn't start, it's usually one (or both) of two things: no spark or no fuel. Have you established that you have either or both?

Check the breaker points under the distributor cap, '75 was the last year they used them, and a lot of people don't know anything about them anymore.

I would like to know the location and the function of every relay is, I have two books and doesn't show nothing of that. Could somebody told me where I can find that info? Thanks

My bad, I was under the impression that you had a crank, but no start condition, not a no crank condition. Your relays are behind the passenger side kick panel above the fuse box. Remove the kick panel and you should see five or six aluminum relays. Look for your suspect there. And yes the transmission also has a safety switch. Have you tried cranking it in neutral rather than in park?

You might want to move over to the 107 forum here: R/C107 SL/SLC Class - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum . A bunch of seriously dedicated nutcases with broad bunch of knowledge and skills. It's very active, so a question will usually be answered in a short time.

There is a sticky topic at the top of the forum called Encyclopedia Germanica v107 that has the 'collected wit and wisdom' of the board. Read that first, and you may find a lot of problems are easily fixable.
