I have checked voltage at the .6 resistor after vehichle fires off and should be running on that one - it has only 4.85 V going in (I believe it should be getting battery voltage from the switch gear ??? and then have about 3 V going to termminal 15 ??? when vehicle running and it has only 1. 5 V - car will fire off then dies within 5 seconds or less - does this sound like that switchgear is failing ??

Ok - at times there is "0" volts at term # 15 (points open or closed) at coil and at .6 Ohm resister - At term #1 on coil same senario. I think that the switch grear for sure is my culprit as that feeds those circuits. I am going to try and find one - what abou t the petronix I have seen mentioned? Do they make a kit for these cars??

Don't know about Radio, but I installed the 1885, but left the switchgear in place. This just replaces the points. It helps if you think the distributor shaft may be wobbling.

But if you suspect the switchgear is bad, then you need to wire so Pertronix takes the place of the switchgear. You should also change the coil.

I have heard that there may a problem getting tach to work with full Pertronix conversion on the very early 107s. But don't have firm data on this.
I am new to r107s, my switchgear went bad and it looks like I could replace the whole mess with a Pertronix , I have a 73 450sl with e 4 wire box.

Rowdie, like a lot of threads, that one is screwed up. I reposted the diagrams later in thread - maybe about #22 or so.

This could be your imobiliser. If you check how many wires you have on your coil and then look in the manual .If you have more wires than it should have those are for the alarm and imobiliser . And thisimobiliser just might be the problem of no spark.
