I'm trying to plan out what wheels and tires i want for my R107. Original tire size was 205/70/R14 and lug pattern 5x112mm. I'm thinking 17 or 18 inch wheels but I'm not sure what width I can fit. I would like to fit wider wheels with perhaps more negative offset for a flush fitment. I may stretch the tires a little bit as well. I'm not very sure what width and aspect ratio would be on the tires considering they'd be radically different from the original tires.

225/50/16 is a very common setup on 8x16 et11. @petesmga did a little body bending to fit 245/50/16 on 9x16 et11 (or is it et10?). @ChiefRider owns the car now, and it is an example of the largest front wheels and tires that bolt onto an r107 without crazy modifications.

There’s lots of information out there that supports 16” wheels being the largest diameter you should go for. Lots of information reporting the ride is too harsh with 17” and the rear wheel disappearing into the rear wheel arch that makes the car look kind of ghetto.

Since some don’t like the front wheels getting stuffed and got for a narrower and higher offset closer to the stock 7x15 et25. My SLC convertible has 225/50/16 on 8x16 et11 rear and 205/55/16 on 7x16 et21.5, and IMO, it doesn’t look ridiculous. :)

Here’s my 280sl with 225/50/16 on 8x16 et11 on all four corners. The front wheels rub the 1986-1989 front spoiler sometimes.
