197 240D injector pump oil

I have a 1973 240 D. There is a red cap on the diesel injector marked "Oel". What kind of oil goes in there? Thanks

Ordinary motor oil.

As I recall, there is a threaded plug below the oel cap which you remove, then add oil through the top until it runs out the hole. It only takes a small amount.

I doubt if the pump oil is related, but the pump oil gets contaminated with fuel after a while, so it doesn't hurt to get some fresh oil in there.

Are you having a starting problem?

Describe what you mean when you say you don't get much fuel to the injectors.
