Closer and closer... leather is done. Top is in and will be installed by next week. Still trying to catch all the last minute details.

Anyone know where I might be able to pick up one of these (chrome air vent with swivel stopper)?

The picture is of the one on the passenger side and I need the one for the driver's side. It was covered by an aftermarket VDO cruise controller that I've opted to pull out. The chrome air vent must have been removed. The classic center does not have any.

Thoughts?? Help?!?

Looking at the wood ,I would simply go over it with cutting compound and smooth varnish. Then once it's smooth give it a go with regular car wax or good quality furniture wax . often,as long as the varnish is still original it will come up like new .
The chrome vent is for aiming defrost air at the side windows and the W111 sedan (finny) and very early W108 250S sedans have the same part. it's very common and i've seen them on ebay.
Make sure you get the spring clip with them.
I have a Coupe in the same colour (DB 173) ( in a container, somewhere between Florida and here) and i am thinking of going with the Anthracite metallic version of that colour.(DB172)
There is an excellent site in Germany (where else) that has all the upholstery codes.

BTW, what part number is that? I couldn't locate it exactly on EPC... but like this one right?
That's the one. I'm looking for the same in the driver's side.

I have access to a couple of parts cars that *may* have it (but I thought I'd see if anyone here had any ideas before I started down the parts car route (that and they are about 2000 miles from where I am atm). I will keep checking Ebay in the meantime.

Mercmad... we did some samples the way you suggested and it just never came out the way we hoped. Made the decision to just have the wood redone and it looks fantastic. I'll post some pix next week.

I love the Anthracite color. Didn't know a metallic one existed, but I bet that will look slick too!

The code on the part is 111-830-0154 according to the classic center. They show up in their inventory, but they don't have them and don't make them any more. Looks like they were in both the 11s and 112s.
