In the June 1959 Motor Trend magazine, there's an article by Bill Carroll describing the coast to coast drive of the "new" 190D. The route isn't completely given.

A few years ago, the drive was repeated: "Old Tech to BlueTec". In the blog that describes that repeat, the authors say "the route of the original drive isn't completely known."

MT's Old-Tech-to-Bluetec Mercedes-Benz Diesel Across America Tour - Leg 1 | Car News Blog at Motor Trend

Does anyone know if the original (not the recent) drive went through Texas? Or does anyone know of someone who might know?

Thanks.

The obvious place to start would be Motor Trend. Most publications have a morgue where they keep writers' notes and miscellaneous bits and pieces from the past. They sometimes also have a reference person who can search their archives. If you're very lucky, they have digitized all that stuff and you can search it from their website for yourself.

Good luck--let us know if you find the route.
