Hi,

I bought new ones of each off the internet. The injectors in my car work but are rusty and lack o-ring seals. The glow plug relay does not turn on in my car, but the car does start. The car has 110,000 miles on it. Anyone know if this is a good enough situation or time to have the dealership install the items I bought? Should I wait another 20k or so until the car really needs these installed or just get it done as preventative maintenance? Thanks

It's being fixed. They want $500 labor just to put in the glow plugs and they haven't even told me the cost of the injector install.

I asked about getting a new timing chain and to check the stretch on the existing one. He said a new one would cost about $1000. I might wait. I don't know how much stretch is on it yet, but if it is not bad, there is no way I am paying that much right now. Any recommendations on when to change the timing chain, if at all? Thank you.

Can you tell me if there will be any noticeable improvement by doing this to the injectors? Better gas, more power etc...

Also, can new glow plugs make a difference? Less shake on start, less smoke on start etc...

Thank you.

You can change the plugs by yourselph. Disconect wires from the plugs, remove each plug and replace it with new one. If there are defective plugs, of course, there will be less shake and less smoke on start. It is imposible to change the injectors by yourself because some adjusment has to be made on each injector, but it can be done at any diesel specialist, not nececarely at the dealership. My car has over 200.000 miles and I still haven' replaced timing chain or injectors. Change the plugs first.

Hi,
what is easy for one person could be impossible for another one. Changed plugs and injectors a couple of times and I think injectors are easier to change. Would not pay these prices. Also with the injectors off ebay you don't know which nozzle are in the holder. Prior to installing them I would have them checked out by a fuel injection specialist. You will also need new heat shields. Also when already in there would replace the o-rings of the pressure relief valve from the injection pump. The metal fuel lines from the ip to the injectors should have all securing clips in place as these lines break easily at the injector end
