The short answer is 10.14 oz for a new/empty system.I need to know how much mineral oil is required to refill my ac system to factory specs.
I just completed a complete AC system flush to remove all remnants of a prior 134 conversion and I have a new compressor and dehydrator ready to install. I'm going back to R12 and I want to do this right, so can anyone assist me and provide the factory spec sheet with how much mineral oil is needed and or a manual on how to properly fill this baby back up? I have a new Behr compressor just waiting to keep me cool during my long daily commutes.
The long answer is found in the service manual section 83-520 checking oil level. I can't seem to load the file but it is in the service manual stickies up top of this forum page.
edit:looks like the file loaded at the bottom of this reply
I believe I put 6 oz in the compressor (that should max out what you can put in there), 2 oz in the receiver/dry, and 2 oz into the line in front of the condenser.
Once you have the compressor mounted and the system buttoned up but before you put the belt on, you are supposed to spin the compressor by hand 10 times to move some of the oil out of the compressor so you don't blow any seals at 1st start up.
Now would be a good time to throw some dye in the system. Napa sells it for 7 bucks and you just pour it in with the oil. It would help find a leak in case a seal doesn't hold somewhere in the system.
