Hey guys! Just picked up my first Mercedes after being a lifelong BMW driver. I managed to get my hands on a 1991 180e with full zender kit here in Australia. To my knowledge the 180e is essentially a 1.8 190e. I’m looking to do a big order from fcp euro but the only options they provide for my year is 2.3 and 2.6 and just hoping there will be cross compatibility to my 1.8. Does anyone know a rule of thumb as to what will fit across these models?

We will need the obligatory photo's of course. Congratulations and welcome to the forum.
Body parts should be identical, under the hood I'm not sure. So is the engine considered a M102? Same block with different bore?
If so it would be like 3.0 versus 2.6 in the M103. So other than the engine mechanicals (camshaft pistons, etc) they should be similar.

Ignition control unit (EZL), ECU will be different. Also the fuel pump's maybe different.

I know there a a couple members from down-under who have a 1.8, they should know first hand though ......

-Cheers!

Yea from my knowledge it’s the m102. Basically under the bonnet just looking to do a “tune up” not necessarily tearing down the engine quite yet. Basically spark plugs and wires, injectors, air and fuel filters, distributor cap and rotor ect. Hoping all these from a 2.3 will fit in my 1.8.

I have access to the parts catalogue, so if there are some 1.8-specific parts you need numbers for, I can look.

Cap and rotors are also the same between all variants of the 8-valve M102 motors, as are the plugs, so you should be good to go!

Amazing man! Thanks so much for the help. Package should be arriving on Wednesday and can’t wait to have it running like a top!

Just thought I would post an update for any one curious. Picked up some remotec 16x8 wheels for a pretty good price. Fixed up all the curb rash and prepped for powder. Still tossing up on colours. Thinking either matte black face with a gloss black lip, or all bronze/gold.

For suspension I’ll be running H&R 60/60 springs with bilstein sports all around.

G'Day Mate...

Good to see another Aussie. I am curious is FCP Europe a good source? I use Pelican Parts and MB Classic? I would be interested to see if the 8 inch rims fit. With my uninformed eye the guards look standard
